I have been on a healthy lifestyle for a few years now. It can be very challenging to strictly stay on a healthy lifestyle – and nothing is worse than not feeling motivated to keep up with it.
Let me ask you if you can relate to this: you’ve bought the books, you’ve paid for the supplements, heck you may even have those leafy greens and superfoods in your fridge. But even though you know what you should do, you face the same problem millions of people have every year – we can’t get motivated to actually follow through on our plan!
Get a Buddy
One of the hardest things to do is stay motivated to your healthy lifestyle, when all your friends are still eating whatever they want. You’re at work, and your coworkers want to go check out the new taco stand down the block, or go out for some pizza – and you end up being in the office alone. Or if you do go with them, you feel awkward being the one person ruining their party, ordering water and a side salad.
An easy solution – get a buddy. Find someone else who wants to change with you, and who will commit to eating the same foods you are. You’ll feel better, and less self conscious about being the only person eating “health food”
Stop Looking at the Scale
You know what I’m talking about. You roll out of bed, and check the scale one day – and you’re down a couple pounds and feel great! And the next day? Suddenly you’re up a few pounds and you have no idea why. It’s so hard to stay motivated and stick to your plan when you keep seeing your weight fluctuate.
So stop looking at the scale. You and I both know that it’s not going to be consistent. As hard as it is, try not to check your weight more than once a week – and don’t let it affect your lifestyle. You’ve got to trust this is working, even if day to day it doesn’t feel like it is. I finally got on the scales this month and discovered I lost 5 pounds. My weight it the lowest its been in years.
